Police Destroyed Raw Hashish, Arrested Three Suspected Smugglers In N. Afghanistan

KABUL, Nov 16 (NNN-BNA) – The authorities destroyed three vehicles loaded with raw hashish and arrested three suspected drug traffickers in northern Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province, a statement by the provincial police office said, yesterday.

According to the statement, the operation took place in Khash district, where police intercepted the narcotics, while they were being transported from one area to another.

The authorities halted the convoy, and subsequently set the seized drugs on fire, under police supervision, the statement said, adding that, the individuals were detained in connection with the case and investigations are ongoing.

The Afghan government, in collaboration with provincial authorities, has regularly conducted anti-narcotics operations, aimed at curbing drug trafficking, in a bid to protect public health and enhance security in vulnerable regions.– NNN-BNA
