COLOMBO, Nov 13 (NNN-LNW) – Sri Lanka Customs achieved its annual revenue target for 2025 more than one month ahead, a spokesperson for the department said, yesterday.
Director of Customs and Media Spokesperson, Chandana Punchihewa, told reporters that, the department had collected 2.117 trillion rupees (about 7.056 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue by Nov 11, surpassing the annual target of 2.115 trillion rupees.
Punchihewa said, the department expects to exceed the target by at least 300 billion rupees (around one billion dollars) by the end of the year, driven largely by earnings from motor vehicles, electronics, food imports, and machinery.
The Sri Lankan government collects revenue mainly through three key independent departments: Sri Lanka Customs, the Inland Revenue Department, and the Excise Department of Sri Lanka.– NNN-LNW
