ISLAMABAD, Nov 12 (NNN-APP) – Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, yesterday, outlined his government’s socioeconomic reforms and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peace, stability, and multilateral cooperation, during the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference in Islamabad.
Sharif emphasised that, peace and security form the foundation of sustainable development, noting that, ongoing global conflicts underscore the critical importance of stability. He said, Pakistan remains fully prepared to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity, while advancing inclusive growth domestically.
On regional issues, the prime minister stressed that, a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is essential for regional connectivity, development, and prosperity. He called on the Afghan government to take effective action against militant groups operating from Afghan soil, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to cooperate on shared security concerns.
Sharif highlighted domestic reforms, aimed at empowering youth and women, expanding SME financing, and enhancing digital skills and leadership opportunities. He also pointed to Pakistan’s collaboration with international financial institutions and development partners, to strengthen financial systems, climate resilience, and investment promotion.
The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s advocacy for oppressed populations globally, and underscored the country’s active engagement in multilateral platforms, such as the United Nations, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Economic Cooperation Organisation, and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Sharif called on nations to work together, to promote peace, sustainable development, and collective security, stressing the need for long-term stability and shared prosperity.– NNN-APP
