
MEXICO CITY, Nov 11 (NNN-EFE) — Mexico’s economy created 550,794 formal jobs in the first ten months of 2025, reflecting a 2.5 percent growth rate, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) reported on Monday.
According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), the unemployment rate stands at 2.9 percent, close to a historic low.
The sectors with the largest annual job growth were transportation and communications (9.6 percent), commerce (2.9 percent), and electricity (2.8 percent), according to IMSS data.
Most of the new jobs were concentrated in the State of Mexico, Mexico City, and Hidalgo, each posting annual increases above 2.5 percent.
The Institute also highlighted a nominal annual increase of 7.1 percent in the average daily wage, which reached 622 pesos (about 33.8 dollars) in October. IMSS noted that this is “the fourth-largest increase recorded for the month of October.”
With this, the total number of formal jobs registered with the IMSS reached 24.02 million as of the end of October. This figure includes workers incorporated through the reform covering digital platform labor.
Around 45 percent of the country’s workforce is formal. — NNN-EFE
