
DODOMA (Tanzania), Nov 6 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — WORLD leaders have congratulated President Samia Suluhu Hassan on her inauguration for a second term in office, pledging to strengthen and deepen cooperation with Tanzania over the next five years of her leadership.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Samia the winner of Tanzania’s 2025 general election on Saturday, after she secured 97.66 per cent of the vote.
Her victory prompted messages of goodwill and support from global and regional leaders, who commended her continued leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties with Tanzania.
The African Union (AU) Commission, Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, congratulated Samia in a statement issued on Saturday.
He reaffirmed the AU’s commitment to supporting the government and the people of Tanzania in their efforts to maintain peace, national cohesion and democracy.
Youssouf called on Tanzanians to exercise their rights peacefully and responsibly, emphasising the principles of the African Charter on democracy, elections and governance, as well as respect for the rule of law, human rights, fundamental freedoms and political pluralism.
Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar also sent a congratulatory message to Samia on her swearing-in for a new presidential term, wishing her success in her duties and hoping for further progress in bilateral relations between the two countries.
Kenyan President William Ruto also extended his congratulations to Samia on her electoral victory, stressing that Kenya and Tanzania share a common vision of a peaceful, prosperous and integrated East Africa through their membership in the East African Community (EAC).
He urged Tanzanians to uphold peace and national unity following the election.
“I encourage all political actors and stakeholders to embrace dialogue and tolerance as they seek to resolve any outstanding issues, in order to safeguard democracy and stability,” said Ruto.
From Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni commended Samia’s victory, expressing optimism about strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, infrastructure development and regional integration.
“I congratulate Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Party, on her re-election. This victory reflects the confidence that the people of Tanzania have in her leadership and vision,” said Museveni.
President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud also extended warm congratulations to Samia, expressing that her victory reflects trust and confidence of Tanzanians.
“Her victory reflects the trust and confidence of the Tanzanian people. Somalia looks forward to deepening our brotherly ties and advancing regional peace and prosperity,” he said.
The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi also congratulated Samia through a statement, describing her victory as a brilliant re-election.
“Tshisekedi commended her leadership and the political maturity of the brotherly people of Tanzania,” a DRC presidential statement read.
He expressed hope that the two nations, DRC and Tanzania, which are connected by geographical boundaries, culture and history will continue to strengthen their bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of their peoples.” — NNN-DAILYNEWS
