Bangladesh Recorded Highest Single-Day Dengue Deaths This Year

DHAKA, Nov 6 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh recorded this year’s highest single-day toll of 10 dengue deaths, yesterday, bringing the tally to 302, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said.

The data showed 1,069 more new infections in the past 24 hours, as of 8:00 a.m. local time yesterday, raising the total number of cases of the mosquito-borne disease to 74,992, so far, this year.

In order to curb the further spread of dengue, Bangladeshi health authorities have strengthened measures to check the breeding of mosquitoes and conduct anti-larval operations.

Dengue fever, a typical monsoon season illness in Bangladesh, is now spreading beyond its usual June-September period.– NNN-BSS
