GEORGE TOWN, July 7 (NNN-Bernama) — The Penang government has targeted 20,000 visitors at the 11th edition of the George Town Heritage Celebration scheduled from July 6-8 this year.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said 22 interactive community workshops have been lined up for the three-day programme themed “Let’s Celebrate – Rituals and Festive Events” to introduce the diverse cultures and traditions here.

“With the interactive community workshops, visitors will get to engage with the local communities  through a range of activities such as birthdays, coming-of-age ceremonies, pre-wedding rituals and wedding ceremonies,” he told reporters during a tour of the site here today.

He added that different themes and activities would be introduced in this annual programme to provide fresh and unique experience for the participants.

Earlier, Chow, along with the state executive committee members, Members of Parliament and Penang state assemblymen visited the community workshops in a special tour conducted by George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI).
