YANGON, Nov 1 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar authorities seized 74 kg of opium and other narcotics in eastern Shan state, the state-owned daily, The Mirror, reported yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police intercepted a vehicle in Pinlaung township of Shan state, on Oct 23, and confiscated several types of narcotic drugs, the report said.
The seized narcotics included 74 kg of opium, nine kg of “happy water,” 1,000 ecstasy pills, 11.2 kg of ketamine, and 114,000 stimulant tablets, it said.
A suspect was arrested in connection with the case, the report said.
The suspect has been charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations are going on to arrest other individuals involved, it added.– NNN-MNA
