Bangladesh To Set National Election Date By 1st Week Of Dec

DHAKA, Oct 30 (NNN-BSS) – The Bangladeshi Chief Adviser’s office, announced that, the country’s Election Commission could declare the date for the upcoming national election by the first week of Dec.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, made the announcement following a high-level meeting on election preparations, with Chief Adviser, Muhammad Yunus in the chair, yesterday.

“The date for Bangladesh’s next national election is expected to be declared by the first week of Dec,” Alam said, at a press briefing.

He further said, the high-level meeting discussed mainly four major issues: the posting of officials, comprehensive training, security arrangements, and strategies to counter disinformation on social media.

To ensure the timeline is met, Alam said, the chief adviser has directed relevant authorities to complete all necessary preparations by Nov 15.

Yunus announced in Aug, to organise the country’s 13th general election in Feb, 2026, before Ramadan, for the first time, since a mass uprising ousted former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, last year.

Economist Yunus, took oath as the head of the country’s interim government, on Aug 8, last year.– NNN-BSS
