ULAN BATOR, Oct 30 (NNN-APA) – Mongolia has attracted a total of 751,879 foreign tourists, since the beginning of the year, according to official data, released by the Mongolian Tourism Organisation, yesterday.
During the period, the majority of the foreign tourists came from China, Russia and South Korea, the data showed.
At present, Mongolia’s economy depends heavily on the mining sector, and on the export of mineral resources. Therefore, sustainable tourism development is considered one of the priorities for diversifying the country’s economy, and increasing the competitiveness of its tourism in the context of global competition.
According to the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sport, Tourism and Youth, the Mongolian government has decided to continue the “Years to Visit Mongolia” tourism programme until 2028, to promote the development of four-season tourism in the country.– NNN-APA
