Flooding Halts North-South Rail Service In Vietnam

HANOI, Oct 28 (NNN-VNA) – Nearly 2,700 passengers were affected, as the Vietnam Railways Corporation suspended several North-South trains last night, due to flooding in central Vietnam, the local media VnExpress, reported.

The railway operator announced the suspension of trains on routes between the capital Hanoi, and the southern economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City, along with services between Hanoi and the central Da Nang city, according to the report.

Floodwaters along sections of the North-South line continued to rise, with levels in central Vietnam’s Hue city reported at 70 to 185 millimetres above the rail surface.

Over the past four days, the central localities of Hue, Da Nang, and Quang Ngai have recorded 400-600 millimetres of rainfall, due to the combined effects of a cold front, a tropical convergence zone, and easterly winds.– NNN-VNA
