S. Korea’s Police Seek Warrants To Detain 59 Scam Suspects Repatriated From Cambodia

SEOUL, Oct 20 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea’s police, today, sought warrants, to detain 59 scam suspects repatriated from Cambodia.

Among the total of 64 suspects brought home from Cambodia on Saturday, four were released by the police, while one was released later, after the prosecution rejected the police’s request for a detention warrant.

With a pre-issued warrant, one suspect was arrested immediately after arriving here, while warrants for the remaining 58 suspects were sought today.

Investigations have been underway over the alleged romance and other scams, as well as, voice phishing.

Some of the repatriated suspects reportedly told investigators that, they were detained and assaulted by scam rings in Cambodia. All the suspects tested negative for drugs.– NNN-YONHAP
