Afghanistan’s Kandahar Exports Six Tonnes Of Honey This Year

KABUL, Oct 4 (NNN-BNA) – Afghanistan’s southern Kandahar province, exported six tonnes of honey so far this year, a spokesman for the provincial Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Mohammad Hanif Haqmal, said yesterday.

Kandahar alone has harvested 45 tonnes of honey, and so far, exported six tonnes to the United Arab Emirates and Oman, the official said, adding that, the provincial government would continue to support bee farming in the province.

In Afghanistan, according to official sources, 3,200 bee farms exist, and the country produces 2,200 tonnes of honey annually.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has promised to expand and develop the bee farming industry in the country, and would do its best to find a market for the locally produced honey abroad.– NNN-BNA
