New Gas Project Launched In Southern Kazakhstan

ALMATY, Sept 30 (NNN-KNA) – Implementation of a new gas project has begun, at the Khairkeldy field, in the Kyzylorda Region of southern Kazakhstan, the country’s Ministry of Energy said yesterday.

At the first stage, gas production is expected to reach about eight million cubic metres per year, with plans to increase output to 24 million cubic metres annually. The project is expected to provide up to 70,000 people with natural gas.

Jointly launched by the ministry and three major gas companies in Kazakhstan, the project will sell gas from the Khairkeldy field, under a new incentive-based formula, developed by the Ministry of Energy, in cooperation with Kazakhstan’s national gas company QazaqGaz.

The project will create new jobs, enhance the industrial potential of the Kyzylorda Region, and provide the population with reliable and affordable energy resources, said the ministry.– NNN-KNA
