TOKYO, Sept 29 (NNN-NHK) – A fire broke out in a building, on the grounds of Haneda airport in Tokyo, this morning, but there are no delays or suspensions of flights due to the fire, local media reported.
An emergency call was made shortly after 9:00 a.m. local time that, “black smoke is visible” from a building on the Haneda Airport grounds, local police and the fire department, were quoted as saying.
More than 30 fire engines and other vehicles arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire, and firefighting operations are still ongoing.
Footage showed black smoke rising high at around 9:10 a.m. local time, but it appears to have weakened after a while.
The Tokyo Airport Office said, the fire occurred in an area where demolition work was being carried out on an old hangar, noting that, there are no delays or suspensions of flights due to the fire.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and the Tokyo Fire Department are currently checking to see, if any injuries have occurred or if people were unable to escape.– NNN-NHK
