Myanmar Marks World Tourism Day In Nay Pyi Taw

YANGON, Sept 28 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, held a ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, to mark World Tourism Day 2025.

The event aimed to highlight the benefits and impacts of tourism, which help preserve the environment, protect cultural heritage, support socio-economic growth, and foster international friendship, Aung Aye Han, deputy director-general of the ministry, said.

At the event, different types of tourism, such as cultural, adventure, and sports tourism, were showcased in detail through video clips, he said.

The ministry prioritised tourism development by participating in international travel expos, organising familiarisation trips, promoting destinations through digital platforms, enhancing service, developing human resources, and ensuring safe and smooth travel experiences, he said.

Over 1.2 million international tourists visit the country each year, with most arrivals coming from Thailand and China, while domestic tourism also remains strong, with more than 10 million local travellers recorded annually over the past two to three years, he added.– NNN-MNA
