KABUL, Sept 22 (NNN-BNA) – The Afghan government’s national procurement commission, approved six development projects valued at 3.8 billion afghani (over 56.4 million U.S. dollars), to boost infrastructure, healthcare, and economic opportunities, the office of the deputy prime minister for economic affairs announced, yesterday.
The commission, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, reviewed 30 proposals spanning various sectors, before approving six key initiatives.
The projects include completing a 200-bed hospital in eastern Kunar province, establishing greenhouses in Paktika province, constructing a 25-km road in northern Faryab province, and supplying electrical equipment to power companies across multiple provinces, according to the statement.
The initiatives are expected to generate thousands of jobs for local residents, supporting the government’s efforts to revitalise the economy, amid ongoing recovery from decades of conflict.
Since assuming power in Aug, 2021, the Afghan government has launched numerous development and infrastructure projects on its domestic budget, across the country, to tackle economic hardship and create job opportunities.– NNN-BNA
