KABUL, Sept 13 (NNN-BNA) – After nearly four decades, the reconstruction of an essential road, linking the southern Kandahar province to the neighbouring Uruzgan began, yesterday, the state-run Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) reported.
The 24 km long road would be completed within two years, at a cost of 790 million afghani (around 11,300,000 U.S. dollars), financed by the Ministry of Public Works, the state-owned media outlet added.
Welcoming the project, the locals called on the administration to accelerate the reconstruction process of the war-ravaged Afghanistan.
To rebuild the war-torn Afghanistan and stand on its feet, the Afghan government has launched a variety of development projects, including road construction and rebuilding highways elsewhere in the country.
More than four decades of war, foreign invasions and civil strife had badly damaged the infrastructure, including the roads and highways in the nation.– NNN-BNA
