JAKARTA, Sept 11 (NNN-ANTARA) – The Indonesian government has advanced its target for building a 250-megawatt on-grid nuclear power plant, from 2032 to 2029, a senior official said, yesterday.
Yuliot Tanjung, deputy minister of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said, regulations for establishing the Nuclear Energy Programme Implementation Organisation are entering the harmonisation stage.
“We are pushing this forward. Soon it will enter harmonisation for enactment, and the regulations will take the form of a presidential regulation,” Yuliot told reporters.
He said that, accelerating the nuclear power development is part of Indonesia’s energy transition strategy.
National electricity capacity is projected to reach 443 gigawatts by 2060, with 79 percent coming from renewable energy, the official added.– NNN-ANTARA
