HANOI, Sept 4 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam exported nearly 5.9 million tonnes of rice, worth more than three billion U.S. dollars, from the beginning of this year to Aug 15, it was reported yesterday, citing the Vietnam Food Association.
The export volume rose 2.88 percent, year on year, while the export value dropped 16 percent, compared with the same period last year.
Last week, Vietnam’s rice export prices reached their highest level in eight months, amid tightening supplies.
The association forecast that, Vietnam will export more than eight million tonnes of rice this year, local daily Nhan Dan reported.– NNN-VNA
