Wreckage Of Missing Helicopter Found In Indonesia

JAKARTA, Sept 4 (NNN-ANTARA) – The wreckage of a helicopter, carrying two crew members and six passengers, was found in a jungle, in Indonesia’s South Kalimantan province, an official said, last night.

Rescuers recovered a body, believed to be a crash victim, at about 3:50 p.m. local time, roughly 100 metres from the wreckage, Yudhi Bramantyo, operations director at the National Search and Rescue Agency, told a press conference, in Banjarbaru, the provincial capital.

The helicopter, operated by Eastindo Air, lost contact with air traffic control just eight minutes after taking off from an airport in Kotabaru district in South Kalimantan, on Monday.

The aircraft, carrying three foreign nationals, was bound for Palangkaraya, capital of neighbouring Central Kalimantan province.

Bramantyo said, search efforts were continuing, with rescuers believing the remaining victims were still inside the helicopter.– NNN-ANTARA
