Russia’s New Car Sales Down 25 Percent In First Eight Months Of Year

MOSCOW, Sept 3 (NNN-TASS) – Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, reported yesterday that, sales of new cars in the country fell 25 percent, in the Jan-Aug period, this year.

According to the ministry, the sales of new cars in Russia totalled 877,600 units, including passenger cars, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), trucks and buses, and sales of domestically produced new cars, declined by six percent to 483,000 units.

Specifically, passenger car sales decreased 23 percent to 768,200 units, LCV sales dropped 21 percent to 66,400 units, while truck and bus sales saw steeper declines – down 56 percent to 35,960 units, and 49 percent to 7,000 units, respectively.

In Aug alone, new vehicle sales decreased 21 percent, year on year, to 135,500 units. However, sales inched up one percent on a monthly basis.– NNN-TASS
