SINGAPORE, Sept 2 (NNN-XINHUA) – About 41,000 pet cats have been licensed, since Singapore launched its Cat Management Framework a year ago, the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) said, yesterday.
About 95 percent of these licensed cats have already been sterilised, according to the AVS, under the National Parks Board.
To date, more than 41,500 people have also completed the mandatory online pet ownership course, required for all first-time cat license applicants.
Under the framework, all pet cats must be licensed and microchipped by Aug 31, 2026. Licensing will remain free until then.
From Sept 1, 2026, keeping an unlicensed pet cat will be considered an offense.– NNN-XINHUA
