COLOMBO, Sept 1 (NNN-XINHUA) – Nearly 200,000 foreign tourists visited Sri Lanka in Aug, this year, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, today.
The 198,235 arrivals marked a 20.4 percent increase from Aug, last year.
From Jan through Aug this year, total arrivals reached 1,566,523. India, Britain, Russia, Germany and China were the top source markets over the period.
Tourism, a key source of foreign exchange, generated more than two billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of the year, data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka showed.– NNN-XINHUA
