Hezbollah Member Killed In Israeli Airstrike On S. Lebanon

BEIRUT, Sept 1 (NNN-NNA) – A Hezbollah member was killed yesterday, in an Israeli airstrike targeting southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese sources.

An Israeli drone “struck a motorcycle, on the Nabatieh Al-Fawqa road, with a guided missile.” A Lebanese army intelligence source said, the dead was a Hezbollah member named Ali Tawba, from the village of Maifadoun.

The intelligence source, and local eyewitnesses, said, Israeli drones and warplanes also carried out multiple airstrikes across southern Lebanon, including some places deep in the area, targeting Hezbollah military positions, “subjected to similar air raids” conducted previously.

The strikes caused the closure of the international road linking the border area in southern Lebanon with the Nabatieh region.

Since Nov 27, last year, a U.S. and French-brokered ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel has been in effect, ending more than a year of cross-border clashes. The agreement stipulated Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon, but the Israeli army has maintained several posts along the border and continues to launch attacks, citing “threats” from Hezbollah.

Reports indicate that, the Israeli army has begun establishing new military posts along the southern Lebanon border.– NNN-NNA
