Cuba receives 161 Irregular Migrants from the U.S.



 HAVANA, Aug 30 (NNN-ACN) — A group of 161 irregular migrants (37 women and 124 men) were returned to Cuba from the United States on Thursday via the José Martí International Airport, in strict compliance with bilateral migration agreements.

The Ministry of the Interior, on its official website, also reported that two of these individuals were transferred to the investigative authorities for being alleged perpetrators of criminal acts before leaving the nation.

With this operation, it added, there have been eight returns via this route so far this year from U.S. territory, and 33 total returns from various countries in the region in 2025, involving 1,001, the majority (863) from the U.S.

Cuba has reaffirmed its commitment to regular, safe, and orderly migration, while reiterating the danger and life-threatening conditions represented by illegal departures from the country. — NNN-ACN
