Kazakhstan Forecasts 5.4 Percent GDP Growth In 2026

ALMATY, Aug 27 (NNN-KNA) – Kazakhstan’s economy is expected to grow by 5.4 percent in 2026, with an average annual expansion of 5.3 percent over 2026-2028, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy, Serik Zhumangarin, said.

Presenting the government’s socio-economic forecast, Zhumangarin said, nominal GDP will rise from 183.8 trillion tenge (343.8 billion U.S. dollars) in 2026, to 229.8 trillion tenge (429.8 billion dollars) in 2028.

Growth will be driven by the real and services sectors, with manufacturing projected to expand 6.2 percent in 2026, and 6.6 percent in 2028. Average growth in mining, agriculture, construction, transport services and trade is forecast at 2.8 percent, 3.9 percent, 11 percent, 10.1 percent and 6.7 percent, respectively.

Exports are projected to increase from 77.1 billion dollars in 2026, to 83.7 billion dollars in 2028, while imports will rise from 67.7 billion dollars to 75.2 billion dollars. Inflation is forecast to stay below 10 percent in 2026, and decline to six percent in 2027-2028.

In Jan-Jul this year, Kazakhstan’s economy grew by 6.3 percent year on year, supported by strong performance in transport, construction, trade, mining and manufacturing.
