Two Killed In Head-On Collision West Of Sydney

SYDNEY, Aug 25 (NNN-AAP) – Two people have been killed, in a head-on collision between a car and a semi-trailer, west of Sydney.

Police in the state of New South Wales (NSW), said that, emergency services were called to a collision between two vehicles in the small town of Canowindra, 240 km west of Sydney, around 2:20 p.m. yesterday.

Officers arrived and found that a truck, towing two semi-trailers and a sedan, had collided head-on. The two occupants of the sedan, a 67-year-old male driver and a 63-year-old female passenger, died at the scene.

The 30-year-old driver of the truck, which rolled onto its side, following the collision, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

NSW Police said that, a crime scene was established and that an investigation into the incident had commenced.

It takes the number of road deaths in the state, so far, this year, to 240, compared to 197 at the same time in 2024, according to government agency, Transport for NSW.– NNN-AAP
