MANAGUA, Aug 25 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Nicaragua plans to close out 2025 with the improvement and construction of 150,000 homes, taking into account those built since 2007, announced Gabriela Palacios, co-director of the Urban and Rural Housing Institute (Invur).
In statements to the Informe Pastran newsletter, the head of Invur specified that for this year they have a strategic goal of completing 7,696 homes nationwide, of which 4,151 had already been built and improved by the end of last month.
Palacios added that in the first half of the year they surpassed 50 percent of the goal and expect that all 7,696 homes will be completed this year.
According to the publication, this achievement is part of a continuous effort by the Sandinista government since 2007, driven by the construction of 148,170 homes, with a projection of reaching 150,000 by 2025, which would represent a historic record.
She added that the homes completed to date have generated more than 20,000 jobs, benefiting 20,700 families in 98 municipalities, with an investment of approximately $95 million.
“The housing issue becomes a driver of the national economy, “Not only for the purchase of building materials and the promotion of the construction sector, but also for job creation,” she emphasized.
The official alluded to the social focus of the housing programs currently in place in the country and affirmed that, thanks to the executive branch’s directive and institutional efforts, they are combating poverty and improving the people’s quality of life. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
