TEHRAN, Aug 23 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, was to discuss the country’s nuclear issue in a phone call with his French, British and German counterparts yesterday.
The European Union foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, was also to take part in the discussion, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, was quoted as saying.
Other issues on the agenda include Iran’s demand for the removal of sanctions and the accountability of the European parties for the Israeli-U.S. attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, in June, Baghaei said.
Since last Sept, Iran and the three European countries of France, Britain and Germany have held several rounds of talks on a range of issues, including Tehran’s nuclear programme and the removal of sanctions. The latest round took place in Istanbul, Türkiye, in late July.
Over the past months, the Europeans have threatened to reinstate international sanctions on Iran, by triggering the snapback mechanism, a clause in a 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers that would allow the other parties to re-impose all international sanctions, should Iran fail to comply with the agreement.– NNN-IRNA
