KABUL, Aug 22 (NNN-BNA) – Police foiled attempts to smuggle ancient coins abroad, via the airport, in southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, reported the state-run Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA), today.
The 139 pieces of coins, dating back to centuries-old historical dynasties, that ruled Afghanistan, were recovered from a man who was attempting to take the treasures to the United Arab Emirates via Kandahar airport, the state-owned media outlet added.
RTA added that, all the recovered treasures would be shifted to the Kandahar museum, after cleansing and repairing.
Previously, in a similar drive, police prevented attempts to smuggle 126 pieces of bronze, copper and silver coins at Kandahar airport, in Nov last year.– NNN-BNA
