KABUL, Aug 21 (NNN-BNA) – Afghan Prime Minister, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, yesterday met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
In the meeting, Akhund said, the Chinese government and people have always held a friendly and positive attitude towards Afghanistan, and he thanked China for speaking up for Afghanistan on the international stage.
China is a force for justice in the world, consistently committed to friendly cooperation and mutual development with Afghanistan and other countries, said the prime minister. History has shown that, those who attempt to interfere in the affairs of other nations will suffer the consequences, while countries that pursue friendly policies will succeed, Akhund said, noting that this is China’s unique strength.
Like China, Afghanistan adheres to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs and is willing to coexist amicably and cooperate with all nations. Over the past two decades, Afghanistan has endured the ravages of war and chaos, and some Western countries continue to maliciously smear its reputation, Akhund said.
The Afghan government will make every effort to resolve issues, promote development, and improve the livelihoods of its people, he said, stressing that it does not wish to and will not create trouble for other countries.
Afghanistan looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China to advance a positive and sustainable friendly relationship, and will never allow any force to use the Afghan territory to threaten China, standing firmly with China at all times, said the prime minister.
For his part, Wang said, China and Afghanistan have maintained friendly relations for thousands of years. China has consistently adhered to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, respecting the choice of the Afghan people, their cultural traditions, and the governance model established according to their national conditions. China supports Afghanistan in upholding its independence to achieve development and revitalisation.
China has made the proposal to build a community with a shared future with its neighbouring countries, and build a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home together, and jointly promote modernisation. Afghanistan is indispensable and should be an important partner in this process, Wang said.
Throughout history, the Chinese foreign minister said, imperialists, colonists, and hegemonists have all attempted to invade Afghanistan, but all have failed, and such schemes will not succeed in the future.
China has consistently advocated for the equality of all countries, big and small, and opposes the strong bullying the weak, or the big oppressing the small. All countries should treat each other equally and cooperate for mutual benefit, Wang said.
The world should not see the rich getting richer while the poor get poorer; every country, including Afghanistan, has the right to achieve development and revitalisation, he noted.
Wang pointed out that since the change of government in Afghanistan, the Chinese foreign minister has visited the country twice, which reflects China’s sincere wish to develop ties with Afghanistan and promote traditional friendship.
Wang expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Afghan government, Afghanistan will achieve greater development and better serve its people.
During his visit, Wang also held talks with the Afghan foreign minister, and met with the Afghan minister of interior affairs.– NNN-BNA
