Indonesia’s Economy Expected To Grow 5.1 Percent This Year: Central Bank

JAKARTA, Aug 21 (NNN-ANTARA) – Bank Indonesia expected the country’s economy to expand 5.1 percent this year, up from 5.03 percent last year, supported by consumption, exports and government spending, Governor Perry Warjiyo said, yesterday.

Warjiyo noted that, shipments of mining products, crude palm oil, agricultural goods, and fisheries were projected to rise, boosting growth in the second half of the year. Government spending was also expected to remain expansive, stimulating demand and investment.

“Economic growth in 2025 is forecast at about 5.1 percent, and it could be higher,” Warjiyo said, at a press conference.

He also said that, global financial market uncertainty remained a near-term risk, requiring vigilance to safeguard domestic resilience against external shocks.

On domestic conditions, Warjiyo urged banks to improve credit performance, pointing out that, lending growth eased to 7.03 percent year-on-year, in July, from 7.77 percent in June.– NNN-ANTARA
