BANGUI, Aug 20 (NNN-XINHUA) — The authorities in the Central African Republic (CAR) have confirmed that the country’s local, legislative, and presidential elections will be held on Dec 28.
During a meeting with officials of the National Elections Authority (ANE) in Bangui, the country’s capital, on Monday, Minister of Territorial Administration Bruno Yapande said the elections must be held as scheduled, after being postponed several times.
“Dec 28 is a constitutional date. It cannot be questioned. All measures have already been taken. We will soon proceed to order electoral materials,” Yapande said.
He added that the government will soon convene the electorate and open candidacy applications. — NNN-XINHUA
