Tanzanians brighten Serengeti Bonanza in Belgium

ANTWERP, Aug 19 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — The Kilimanjaro, a team of Tanzanians living in Sweden, won the Serengeti Sports Bonanza held in Antwerp, Belgium, over the weekend.

Besides sports, the bonanza served as a platform for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to share information with the diaspora about various investment opportunities available in Tanzania.

THE Director of the Diaspora and Opportunities Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Salvator Mbilinyi, has called on Tanzanians living overseas to maintain unity, live harmoniously, and continue promoting Tanzania as a peaceful nation.

He made the remarks during a gathering of Tanzanians from various European countries in Antwerp, Belgium, who came together to participate in the Serengeti Football Bonanza.

The event was organized by members of the Tanzanian diaspora in collaboration with the Embassy of Tanzania in Belgium and featured 14 football teams from different European nations.

The Kilimanjaro team from Sweden emerged as the tournament champion.

Beyond sports, the bonanza served as a platform for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to share information with the diaspora about various investment opportunities available in Tanzania. It also provided a chance for Tanzanians abroad to engage with key institutions such as banks, the immigration department, NIDA, and UTT-AMIS, which offered services and education to attendees.

In his speech, Mbilinyi expressed gratitude to the diaspora for their significant contribution to the nation’s development, especially in the sectors of health, education, housing, tourism, and through remittances—an essential driver of Tanzania’s economic growth.

He further emphasized the importance of registering in the Tanzania Diaspora Database (DDH), explaining that accurate diaspora statistics are vital for strategic development planning. He noted that the registration is also a preparatory step toward the establishment of a Diaspora Joint Investment Fund.

Additionally, Mbilinyi urged members of the diaspora to continue adhering to the laws of their host countries while maintaining a patriotic spirit and protecting the interests of their homeland, Tanzania. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
