COLOMBO, Aug 18 (NNN-XINHUA) – More than 250 people have died from drowning in Sri Lanka so far this year, police said, yesterday.
Police spokesman, F. U. Wootler, told reporters that, 257 people have lost their lives in drowning accidents, so far this year. Among the victims were 37 women.
During the same period, the Police Life Saving Division, rescued 69 Sri Lankans and 33 foreign tourists from drowning, according to the police.– NNN-XINHUA
