KABUL, Aug 9 (NNN-BNA) – At least six commuters were killed and another injured, in a road accident in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, yesterday afternoon, a local official confirmed, today.
Mullah Ezatullah Haqqani, spokesman for the provincial government, said that, a car collided head-on with another vehicle, killing six people, including a mother and her four children, on the spot, in Washir district, along the highway linking Herat to the capital Kabul.
The official blamed reckless driving for the incident, saying, the injured passenger was taken to a nearby health centre for treatment.
In a separate incident yesterday morning, one commuter was killed, and six others were injured in a highway crash, in eastern Afghanistan’s Ghazni province.
Fatal road accidents are frequent in Afghanistan, due to poor road conditions, reckless driving, challenging terrains, overloading, and dangerous overtaking.– NNN-BNA
