COLOMBO, Aug 6 (NNN-XINHUA) – Over 130,000 vehicles were registered in Sri Lanka, during the first seven months of this year, said the Department of Motor Traffic, yesterday.
Commissioner General of the department, Kamal Amarasinghe, said that, they registered a total of 133,678 vehicles by the end of July.
Motorcycles made up the majority with 100,451 registrations, followed by 20,535 motor cars, 3,293 three-wheelers, and 1,995 dual-purpose vehicles, he said.
Sri Lanka had limited the import of vehicles since 2020, due to foreign currency shortages, however, the country lifted the restriction earlier this year.– NNN-XINHUA
