Maldives Registers 43 Percent Increase In Fish Exports In H1

MALÉ, Aug 4 (NNN-PSM) – The Maldives registered a 43 percent increase in fish export, in the first half of this year, compared with the same period last year, it was reported yesterday, quoting data from the Maldives Monetary Authority.

By the end of June, fish exports had reached 74.5 million U.S. dollars, up from 52 million dollars a year earlier, with the surge being chiefly driven by expanded export volumes.

Between Jan and Jun, the nation exported over 44,877 metric tonnes of fish, compared with about 26,850 metric tonnes in the same period last year, which reflects intensified domestic fishing activity across the country.

Against this backdrop, the Maldives has advanced a strategic vision, aimed at fortifying the fisheries sector’s contribution to national income and broader economic resilience.– NNN-PSM
