DUSHANBE, Jul 30 (NNN-KNA) – A total of 3.1 tonnes of narcotic substances were seized in Tajikistan, in the first half of this year, up 10.4 kilograms from the same period last year, the press service of the Drug Control Agency, under the President of Tajikistan, said yesterday.
According to the agency, 54.4 percent of the drugs were detected and seized at the border with Afghanistan.
The amount of seized psychotropic substances increased by 85 percent, reaching 155.5 kilograms, it said.
During that period, 534 drug-related crimes were registered in the country, compared to 419 during the same period last year, it added.– NNN-KNA
