JAKARTA, Jul 30 (NNN-ANTARA) – Leaders of Indonesia and Malaysia, met here yesterday, to discuss border issue and efforts to reduce the number of fishermen arrested in each other’s waters.
Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, and Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, convened at the presidential palace, for the 13th Annual Consultation between the two countries.
“The two leaders discussed the progress we have achieved over the past few months, including border negotiations and the reduction in the number of fishermen caught in each region, which had previously been a major issue between Indonesia and Malaysia,” said Indonesia’s Foreign Minister, Sugiono.
He added, the two leaders also addressed the establishment of community learning centres for children of Indonesian migrant workers in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. These centres aim to ensure access to education for Indonesian children living in Malaysia.– NNN-ANTARA
