NEW DELHI, Jul 25 (NNN-PTI) – Sixty-six Naxals, including 27 women cadres, surrendered to government forces, yesterday, in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.
According to the police, the majority of surrendered Naxals carried a cash reward on their heads.
“Today (yesterday), 66 Naxals, including 49 carrying a cash reward on their heads, surrendered in five districts of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division,” a police official said. “While 25 cadres surrendered in Bijapur district, 15 laid down their arms in Dantewada, 13 in Kanker, eight in Narayanpur and five in Sukma district.”
The Naxals surrendered before senior officials of the police, paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force, and Border Security Force in these districts.
Reports said, each surrendered Naxal was provided with monetary cash support.– NNN-PTI
