Kenya: 225 kilograms of drug seized in Kandara, woman arrested

NAIROBI, July 19 (NNN-KBC) — A woman has been arrested in Kandara, Murang’a County, after detectives from the Anti- Narcotics Unit (ANU) seized 225 kilograms of drug (bhang) from her residence.

Eunice Wangui Kimani was apprehended following a tip-off from members of the public. Upon conducting a search at her home, officers discovered 13 gunny bags filled with bhang, with an estimated street value of Sh6.7 million.

In addition to the drugs, the officers also recovered packaging materials believed to have been used in the distribution of the bhang, suggesting the existence of a wider trafficking network linked to the suspect.

The suspect is currently in custody as detectives finalise processing ahead of her arraignment in court. The drugs have been secured and will be presented as evidence in the case.

Authorities have commended the public for sharing crucial information and reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks operating in the country. — NNN-KBC
