JAKARTA, Jul 14 (NNN-ANTARA) – A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck the sea, south-west of Indonesia’s South-east Maluku, in Maluku Province at 12:49 p.m. local time today, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
The epicentre was located approximately 170 km south-west of South-east Maluku, at a depth of 108 km, the BMKG said, on its official website.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” and is prone to frequent earthquakes.– NNN-ANTARA
