Man Shot Dead By Police At Sydney Shopping Centre

SYDNEY, Jul 13 (NNN-AAP) – A man has been shot dead by police, after allegedly threatening officers with a machete, at a shopping centre, in north-west Sydney.

A police statement said that, emergency services were called to reports of a brawl involving two groups of people, in the carpark of a shopping centre in Mount Druitt, 38 km north-west of central Sydney, at around 3:15 p.m. local time yesterday.

Officers attending the scene were allegedly threatened by a man armed with a machete and fired several gunshots at him.

First aid was immediately rendered by police and ambulance paramedics but the man, believed to be aged in his 20’s, died at the scene, shortly after 4:00 p.m. local time.

A crime scene has been established and detectives from the homicide squad have commenced an investigation into the incident.– NNN-AAP
