Cyprus Minister in Dar es Salaam to strengthen Tanzania-EU ties

DAR ES SALAAM, July 9 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Dr. Constantinos Kombos, has arrived in Dar es Salaam to begin an official visit to Tanzania which will run until Thursday.

He is visiting on behalf of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who is also the Vice President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas.

The main objective of the visit is to strengthen bilateral relations between Tanzania and the European Union, support preparations for Tanzania’s 2025 general elections, and promote economic cooperation under the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, which aims to boost infrastructure development and global trade.

Speaking about the visit, the EU Ambassador to the East African Community, Christine Grau, stated, “Tanzania is a reliable and stable partner in a strategically important region,” reflecting the EU’s confidence in Tanzania’s role as a regional leader in peace and development in East Africa.

The visit highlights the long-standing diplomatic relationship between the Government of Tanzania under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the European Union. Her leadership has been praised for strengthening democracy, attracting international investment, and fostering productive global partnerships.

During his visit, Dr. Kombos is expected to hold talks with various Tanzanian government officials to discuss priority areas of cooperation, including democracy, good governance, trade, investment, and sustainable development, for the mutual benefit of both parties. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
