ULAN BATOR, Jul 8 (NNN-APA) – The 19th edition of Mongolia’s national costume festival, is held in Ulan Bator, capital of Mongolia, today, with the aim to promote the tourism sector and encourage the younger generation to wear traditional costumes.
Several thousand of people dressed in traditional costumes participated in the annual festival, titled “Mongolians in Deel,” in the central square of Ulan Bator, according to the capital city’s Department of Tourism.
This year’s festival was co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth, the capital city’s Department of Tourism, and the Mongolian Tourism Organisation and Mongol costumes centre.
Deel is an item of traditional Mongolian clothing for centuries.
The one-day festival includes numerous activities, such as a fashion parade, the best deel contest, a national clothing exhibition and a folk music concert and dance.– NNN-APA
