DAR ES SALAAM, June 30 (NNN-XINHUA) — Tanzania emerged as the shining jewel of African tourism at the 2025 World Travel Awards, held on Saturday night in the port city of Dar es Salaam.

The East African country not only hosted this year’s ceremony but also made history, sweeping a record-breaking 27 awards that highlighted its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant hospitality sector, and exceptional tourism institutions, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.

Among the top honors were Africa’s leading destination, Africa’s leading tourist board, and the coveted Africa’s leading national park, which was awarded to the Serengeti National Park, according to the statement.

The statement also highlighted the recognition of Mount Kilimanjaro, Ruaha National Park, the pristine shores of Zanzibar, and the floral beauty of Kitulo National Park, each honored for their unique appeal.

Additional accolades included Zanzibar, named Africa’s leading beach destination; Ngorongoro Conservation Area, crowned Africa’s leading tourist attraction; Serengeti National Park, which won dual titles, including Africa’s leading big five national park; Julius Nyerere International Airport, named Africa’s leading airport; and the Port of Dar es Salaam, awarded Africa’s leading cruise port. — NNN-XINHUA
