ISLAMABAD, Jun 29 (NNN-APP) – Fourteen terrorists were killed in a security operation in Pakistan’s north-west Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, following a suicide bombing on a military convoy, the Pakistani army said, yesterday.
The incident took place in the tribal district of North Waziristan, where a vehicle-borne suicide attacker targeted a convoy of security forces, according to a statement by the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The assailant was initially intercepted, but a second explosive-laden vehicle rammed into one of the military vehicles, killing 13 troops and injuring three civilians.
Sanitisation operations were immediately launched in the area, and after an intense exchange of fire, the 14 terrorists were killed, the statement said.
The ISPR added that, the operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining threat.– NNN-APP
