JAKARTA, Jun 26 (NNN-ANTARA) – Shipment of Indonesia’s traditional cloth, Batik, rose 76.2 percent, year-on-year, in the first quarter of this year, with exports penetrating the markets of South Africa, China, and the U.S., Indonesian Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang, said, yesterday.
The minister said, Batik exports in the first three months of the year, reached over 7.63 million U.S. dollars.
“The most important thing is that, the increase is 76.2 percent compared to the same period last year,” he was quoted as saying by local media, adding that, the Batik industry employs about 200,000 workers.
He expressed high appreciation for the achievement, given the current uncertainties in the global market.– NNN-ANTARA
